A painting’s creation begins with a client’s story, which helps to develop the heart of the painting. As I listen to the narrative a drawing appears in my mind honoring the story being told. Soon a painting comes to life. The completed painting honors the client story and enhances their lives.

The Meaning Behind the Name
“To me, Firelight Designs and dragonflies go together. Have you ever watched dragonflies float, dart, and dance through the air? Dragonflies are iridescent. Dragonflies are reminders that we are light. At special times of day in the right light they glow, hence firelight, then in a short, fleeting time they are gone! Dragonflies fly forward, backward, hover, speed off at seemingly the speed of light, just like firelight when a flame flies forward, backward, and, like the speed of light disappears into the air! Firelight can be effortless, weightless, and filled with light.
You and I can reflect light and energy in powerful ways if we decide that's what we want or need to do. Perhaps you need more lightness in your life? That is what I have tried to accomplish with Firelight Designs. To give people that light through my art. Whether it is teaching, completing a commission, telling a story through a painting or piece of jewelry, metalwork, or when I'm at a show, I try to incorporate the grace, nature, lightness, energy, ethereal quality, and a delicate strength of the dragonfly through my art.”
